30th September 2009 - Glentoran Reserve XI 1-2 Linfield

Pleasing football to the eye, a decent atmosphere and a mini display planned just hours before kick off made for a fairly entertaining night at The Oval. The team did themselves proud and more than matched a strong Linfield side. Had it not been for missing sitters or the most blatant penalty turned down you will ever see, we could be looking at a semi final. What's done is done, back to the bread and butter which is the league on Saturday.

28th September 2009 - More football

Yet the start of another week, yet another mid-week game; the Shield should have been consigned to the history books long ago but here we are, a chance to blood the youngsters. Providing the dilemma is our biggest rivals, our opponents, who have stated they will be playing as strong a team as possible compared to our own manager's commitment to field the youngsters - hopefully with a few experienced heads thrown into the mix. A below average big two crowd is expect but the atmosphere potential is there. Time for the best set of fans in the country to prove their worth.

From the start Glens!

25th September 2009 - Newry away

The football keeps on coming; certainly welcome but not exactly eagerly anticipated these days. After a dismal run of 4 draws on the bounce and 3 league points out of the last 9 this game is certainly bigger than what is written on paper. The lads need us right now, they need the confidence boost that made them play fluid football and/or grind out winning results, something severely lacking at the moment. Tomorrow is a test for the players and the fans to show what a champion bunch they are. From the start Glens, get into them!!

22nd September 2009 - Buses, Quizzes and the matches that keep on coming!

The Ballymac bus to Newry on Saturday leaves the clubrooms at 1.30pm. All visitors are welcome.

Last night saw Legion 1882 take part in the well organised annual Castlereagh GSC quiz. The group did themselves very proud indeed, coming in at a hard earned 6th place, just 3 points off a place in the grand final. Had we known the exact height of the great pyramid of Egypt or the founding year of Tayto and Bacardi (off by 1 year in the Tayto question!) it could have been very different. The final takes place on Monday 12th October when a few Legion team members will be en-route to Prague so some could say it's a blessing we didn't qualify :)

Tonight's game v Institute at The Oval has an 8pm start.

20th September 2009 - Photos

Gallery updated with photos from the mini display v Coleraine on Saturday.

20th September 2009 - Coleraine 0-0 Glentoran

A forgettable display, in which either team could have snatched a winner, mixed in with a controversial approach from the ever so consistent Coleraine PSNI who only looked to stir trouble and cause unrest, made for an (un)interesting day at the Showgrounds. Back to the bread and butter of the league on Tuesday night at home to Institute... still without a Saturday home game this league season!

On a lighter note, Legion 1882 will be participating in the Castlereagh GSC quiz tomorrow night. Come along to watch the disaster!

18th September 2009 - Matches and Milestones

Well tomorrow is the awaited trip to Coleraine Showgrounds, Legion 1882's favourite ground, in the Setanta Cup; a competition that has been less favourable to us over the years previous to our dream-like run to the final at the oppositions home ground last season. Tensions in the stand between fans and police are anticipated... Peeler TV?

On another important note, www.legion1882.com passed the 100,000 page view mark at 4.10pm today with a total of 8,550 visits from 37 countries in the 80 days that the site has been live. For all those involved (including the supporters) this is a tremendous achievement. Bigger and better!

14th September 2009 - UltraSpirit

Due to technical issues beyond our control we were unable to launch the second episode of 'UltraSpirit'. We endeavour to have this resolved ASAP.

13th September 2009 - Dungannon Swifts 1-1 Glentoran & Photos

In a time where financial efforts are being focused elsewhere, Legion 1882 had their 3 TIFO flags on show yesterday in front of the small shed which usually gives a good effect. Two totally different halves in terms of football and atmosphere. Roll on Tuesday night (Ballymac leaves at 6.30pm).

Thanks to Tommy Sewell we are able to update our display gallery with photos from Linfield (H) 18/8 and Bohs (H) 29/8 - HERE

*Update, match action photos from Tommy Sewell from various matches in August 2009 now online @ the Gallery.*

The donation facility has been updated and any errors that may have occurred should now be eradicated.

9th September 2009 - UltraSpirit

7th September 2009 - Away Buses

Legion 1882 are running a bus to Coleraine for the Setanta Cup clash on Saturday 19th September. The charge for this journey will be £10 per person. The little profit made will go towards our efforts in creating more noise and colour in the stands. To book a place on this bus email editor@legion1882.com

Ballymac GSC will be running a bus to Dungannon this Saturday which will leave the clubrooms at 1.30pm. They will also be running a bus to Glenavon the following Tuesday (15th) which leaves at 6.30pm. All visitors are welcome on these two buses.

6th September 2009 - UltraSpirit

The latest feature to hit legion1882.com is the 'UltraSpirit' series by Legion 1882 member Phil. This will consist of a series of 8 episodes containing the basics, video clips, photos and general information of several ultra groups throughout Europe. This type of group is not common in Northern Ireland and we hope these episodes will serve to provide our viewers and supporters with some common knowledge on the scene (without the violence!) that we aspire to. The first episode is due for realise on Wednesday 9th September and will cover Scotland & England.

The trailer can be viewed HERE

2nd September 2009

Yesterday seen what is widely regarded as Glentoran fans favourite away day take place at the Coleraine Showgrounds. A pleasing support for a Tuesday night of around 600 Glenmen made the journey to the North West and Legion 1882 filled a small bus for this game.

However even without our display Glentoran fans were still vocally excellent, with the trend of an excellent atmosphere at Coleraine not being broken. Credit to Coleraine fans as well who turned out in magnificent numbers and created a good second half atmosphere in their shed.

Sad to see the PSNI felt the need to have a heavy presence at the game, recording several Glentoran fans on video, including minors. Their presence was only going to stir trouble, but thankfully Glentoran supporters showed their class by rising above it and merely singing even louder, which annoyed them more than any sort of retaliation could have.

Great performance on the pitch, great performance off the pitch. 3 points in the bag, well done Glens.

Next up - Dungannon away, in 11 days due to Crusaders' worries that their small squad may not be able to challenge the champions, bless ;)
