The
Legends return – It will be just like watching Brazil!
If you are planning to attend the Glentoran v Rangers XI game on Sunday why not give yourself an extra treat by coming along a bit earlier to the Oval to witness a very special game being played as a warm up to the main event.
Returning to play on the Oval for another time will be many of the Glentoran stars of the 70s ,80s and 90s.They will be playing against a team made of Glentoran fans, which will have the honour of facing their heroes whilst donning a special Brazil style kit.
It promises to be quite a day as Legends such as Billy Caskey, Johnny Jamison, Jim Cleary, Barney Bowers, Raymond Morrison and Rab McCreery will don the Green, Red and Black again and grace the Oval turf as they did in their glory years.
Others joining them will be Mark Glendinning , Tim McCann, Gary Smyth , Tommy Leeman ,Darren Parker , Gary Hillis and Andy Mathieson to name but a few.
The Legends game kicks off at 1pm with the Oval turnstiles opening at 12.30 to accommodate anyone who wants to come early to watch this special game before Glentoran take on the Rangers XI at 3pm.
So why not come along watch your heroes of yesteryear, watch some of your mates take on the Legends then watch the Champions of Northern Ireland face the Champions of Scotland. See you there!!

Photos from the trip to Israel to play Maccabi Haifa in the Champions league are now online @ the Gallery. These were taken by Tommy Sewell who has again kindly let us use his material along with the following message:
Give Oran a big thank you from all Glenmen for looking after everyone. Oran has been a Glenman for the past 11 years since we met him in Haifa back in 1998 (Maccabi Haifa v Glentoran). He supports Tel Aviv and Glentoran. He hates Maccabi Haifa and Linfield.
Legion 1882 would like to thank Oran for his hospitality towards those who travelled, of which I personally have heard first hand about, and should he ever be in Belfast, most if not all of us would love to return the favour. Glenmen here..

A new website has been launched by former Glentoran goalkeeper Michael Dougherty and sports journalist, but first and foremost Glentoran supporter, Chris Holt. The website, www.irishleagueretro.com currently offers a range of different retro Irish League jerseys and is soon to offer a range of different retro memorabilia. The website design is fantastic and has already been a great hit throughout the Irish League. It was exactly what is needed for all football fans who want to relive the days of yesteryear. Do you want to see your favourite past-jersey or first ever Glentoran top be remade? Then the boys are all open to suggestions! Take a look at the site, well worth the visit. New links page added to the navigation bar on the right.
An update on the stats sees the view counter rise to 4,296 with over 18k including the forum with visitors from 11 countries to date. Keep up the support.

Welcome to the new Legion 1882 website! The purpose of such a venture is to display a wide ranging portal of information to do with the Legion 1882 group. This page will serve as the main page with all the news.
We have created a positive atmosphere at Glentoran matches in our
first season and have gained many friends and support. Hopefully the
2009/10 season will be bigger and better for the team and the fans
that support them in the stands.
This is just the beginning of a new era in the stands, one which we hope will turn out to be a haze of colour and noise as we expand and improve as a group with experience. Our core membership of people age 15-30 will continue to grow as a result of this. Exciting times lie ahead.
